FINDING THE BEST OPTION FOR YOU
At Renaissance Dental Care, we help you find the solution that’s best for you. As part of your free consultation, Dr. Stockdale will provide you with an examination that includes a comprehensive cone beam scan.
After your examination, Dr. Stockdale will ask you a series of questions about what it’s like living with missing teeth and how it affects your lifestyle. He’ll go over all your options, including dentures, and then make his recommendation based on your unique situation.
ALL-ON-4 VS DENTURES
Dentures are a common restoration for patients who wish to restore one or both arches, but they involve a considerable number of disadvantages, especially when compared to All-on-4®.
Dentures sit on top of the gumline, where they can cause pain, sores, and other complications. All-on-4®, on the other hand, is firmly and permanently secured to your jawbone. And unlike dentures, All-on-4® will never cause an embarrassing situation by slipping out of place when you eat.
All-on-4® stimulates healthy jawbone growth and helps preserve the natural shape of your face. This isn’t the case with dentures, which can cause the jawbone to deteriorate and alter your facial bone structure. These changes include:
- Sagging cheeks
- Sunken lips
- Hanging jaw
- Sagging or rotating chin
Dentures rely on natural suction to remain in place, but after a while they’ll begin to shift around, often requiring messy and foul-tasting adhesives to remain in place. They also need to be removed every night for cleaning, but with All-on-4® you can brush and floss your prosthetics like your natural teeth.
Unlike All-on-4®, dentures cover your upper palate which makes eating a less pleasant experience. Patients with dentures often find chewing painful, and this may cause them to avoid healthy foods or make them swallow their food without completely chewing it. This reduces your nutritional intake and causes digestive problems. Dentures can also interfere with the way you speak and breathe.
